Albert Einstein published many groundbreaking scientific theories during his career, including the special and general theories of relativity, and the concept of mass-energy equivalence (E = mc2)

In 1921 he received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his services to Theoretical Physics and for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect

After Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party rose to power in Germany in 1933, Einstein emigrated to the United States to take up a position at the Institute for Advance Study in New Jersey. He remained a faculty member there until his death in 1955
