Jessica Ennis Arrives in Blackpool
Jessica Ennis has now returned to Madame Tussauds London
Following on from her Gold Medal win at the recent London Olympics Games, the nations favourite sweetheart, Jessica Ennis arrived today at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.
The Figure, which will be on display in Blackpool for a limited time only, arrived from her permanent home in Madame Tussauds London for a short stint in the popular sea side resort.
“We are delighted to welcome Jessica to our Best of British line up of sports stars at Madame Tussauds Blackpool,” commented Matthew Titherington, General Manager at the attraction. “She grew up in nearby Sheffield and trained with the City of Sheffield Athletic Club so it seems apt that she is claiming a place here. We are sure she will be a hit with our guests and expect a flood of fans clamouring to pose alongside her to recreate the special Olympic moment.”
Jessica gave Madame Tussauds sculptors a sitting in March 2011 where hundreds of precise measurements were taken. The figure, which wears kit donated by Jessica, took four months to complete at a cost of £150,000.
Portrayed in an iconic post-race celebration pose with her arms raised triumphantly as she proudly holds aloft a Union Jack flag .
The Figure will take pride of place in Madame Tussauds Blackpool’s Best of British Room alongside popular iconic Figures from British Royalty, entertainment and sport.
