Shrek Arrives in Blackpool
Dreamworks Animation's star gets green carpet premiere.
Everyone’s favourite larger-than-life ogre, Shrek, has arrived in Blackpool!
To mark the launch of the new seven-foot tall figure at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool, a special green carpet event including donkey rides and some very special VIP guests was organised at ODEON cinema in Blackpool.
The guest list included children from Brian House Children’s Hospice and Trinity Hospice as well as school children from across Blackpool who got to walk the green carpet, meet Shrek and watch DreamWorks Animation’s box office hit ‘Shrek Forever After.’
Created by the studios at Madame Tussauds, the seven-foot-tall Shrek is Blackpool’s tallest figure and will be featured in the brand new interactive Children’s Zone which includes a log tunnel, an Ogre Swamp and forest theming.
General Manager Matthew Titherington said: “This is a really exciting launch for Madame Tussauds Blackpool. We have created a fantastic new swamp-home for Shrek in the heart of the attraction where he will join Bob the Builder and recently launched Spider-Man in the world’s first Madame Tussauds Childrens Zone, another real coup for Blackpool.”
Set over five floors and 14 themed areas of interactive fun, Blackpool is the UK’s only Madame Tussauds outside of London and offers amazing insight into the world of celebrity.
