• Born Ben Fogle on 3rd November 1973

• Ben Fogle is an acclaimed writer, adventurer and television present, who first came to the British public’s attention when he starred in Castaway 2000. Marooned on a remote Scottish island for the year of 2000, Ben was one of 36 people selected to form a new community from scratch with limited resources

• From 2001 to 2008, he co-presented Countryfile with John Craven, reporting on a variety of unusual rural activities and competitions such as cheese rolling, tin bath racing, the worm charming championship, lawn mower racing championship and the world stinging nettle eating competition

• The host of reality TV show Extreme Dreams, a team of deserving individuals travel with Ben to an unfamiliar region to participate in an adventure beyond their wildest dreams

• Ben has achieved many sporting accomplishments. Among his most recent he won a charity boxing match against Sid Owen for BBC Sport Relief, completed the Marathon Des Sables (a 160 mile race across the Sahara dessert) and also sailed across the Atlantic Ocean with Olympic gold medalist, oarsman James Cracknell

• Ben has written several successful books including The Teatime Islands, Offshore and co-wrote The Crossing and Race to the Pole with James Cracknell
