In addition to our core education themes, we also provide these season specific themes to enhance your classes learning experience.

Theme 1 - Black History

(Available for grades 5-8 and 9-12)
Explore the beginnings of Black History

The "Father of Black History" is known as Dr. Carter G. Woodson. Dr. Woodson was disturbed that history textbooks were ignoring America's black population. He took on the challenge of writing black Americans into the nation's history. Woodson established the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History in 1915 and launched "Negro History Week" in 1926. Dr. Woodson chose the particular week in February because it included the birthdays of Frederick Douglas and Abraham Lincoln, both important figures in Black History. In 1976, the week was extended to Black History Month.

Theme 2 - Hispanic Heritage

(Available for grades 9-12)
Immerse yourself in Hollywood's Hispanic Heritage

The Federal Government wanted to recognize the accomplishments of Hispanic Americans. In 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed the week of September 15th as National Hispanic Heritage Week. The week was chosen to recognize the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, September 16th is Mexico's anniversary of independence and September 18th is the anniversary of Chile. In 1988, National Hispanic Week became a month long celebration. National Hispanic Heritage Month not only honors the accomplishments of Hispanic Americans, but also shines a spotlight on Hispanic Heritage and culture within our country.
