- Academy Award® and Golden Globe® winning actor, director and producer, Denzel Washington is best known for his roles in films such as Glory (1989), Malcolm X (1992), The Hurricane (1999), Training Day (2001) and American Gangster (2007)

- In 2006, he published A Hand to Guide Me, a book project in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the mentorship program that Washington himself accredits to his success

- He and his wife Pauletta Washington have been married since 1983 and have four children. In 1995, the couple renewed their wedding vows in South Africa in a ceremony officiated by Archbishop Desmond Tutu
