Luciano Pavarotti
Possibly the world’s best-loved opera singer with an incredibly powerful tenor voice, Pavarotti in fact began his career as a school teacher. He was one of the world’s highest paid entertainers. He debuted with La Boheme at the Teatro Reggio Emilia in 1961. He was best known for his recording of Nessun Dorma from Puccini’s Turandot, released during the 1990 World Cup, and his Three Tenors tours with Placido Domingo and Jose Carerras.
