HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was born in Corfu in 1921, the son of Prince Andrew of Greece. After some years as an exile he joined the Royal Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II. He married Princess Elizabeth, future Queen Elizabeth II, in 1947, becoming a Prince of the United Kingdom in 1957. He received the Order of Merit from the Queen in 1968.
