Lee Kwan Yew
Lee Kuan Yew was the first Prime Minister of Singapore. Following the General Elections in May 1959, he became the first Prime Minister of the self-governed State of Singapore. Lee stepped down as Prime Minister in 1990, but has subsequently retained substantial political influence as Senior Minister in the current government.
