HONG KONG (September 6, 2012) Today, the beautiful and award-winning actress, Li Bingbing dazzled the red carpet at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong as she unveiled her wax double. Her wax double will be on permanent display in the attraction’s Hong Kong Glamour zone.
As an internationally acclaimed actress, Li Bingbing won the Best Actress Awards at the 2008 Hundred Flowers Awards for her outstanding performance in movie “The Knot” as well as the Best Leading Actress Award at the 46th Golden Horse Film Awards for her role in the spy thriller “The Message”. In her upcoming movie 'Resident Evil: Retribution' which will be shown in cinemas from September 14, Li Bingbing plays the role of mysterious Ada Wong.
Apart from her outstanding achievement in acting, Li Bingbing also has an active role in philanthropic work. Recently, she gathered a group of volunteers and experts to Li Jiang, Baekdu Mountain, Qinghai Lake etc. for an environmental study tour which hopes to encourage a low carbon lifestyle.
Li Bingbing was also the only Chinese female celebrity invited to walk The Oscar Awards’ red carpet earlier on this year, and is the very first Mainland Chinese female celebrity wax figure to be housed at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. With the launch of her first wax figure in Madame Tussauds Shanghai in 2008, Li Bingbing is the only Mainland Chinese female to hold a wax figure in both attractions.
The unveiling event saw a talented artist invited to the stage to create a painting of Li Bingbing, while the audience was asked to guess the identity of the event’s special guest. A curtain soon unveiled Li Bingbing, who dazzled on stage, alongside her wax double to a swarm of camera flashes from the crowd.
“I am thrilled to have my wax double created and housed at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, and to become a neighbour to so many A-listers – it is truly an honour,” says Li Bingbing.
Li Bingbing’s wax figure is dressed in a gorgeous tailor-made white gown by Georges Chakra, as worn by the beautiful actress at the Oscar Awards this year. This distinct gown features sequenced feather-like flower petals and sexy sheer detailing on the sides, revealing a perfect curve line mimicking that of a swan.
The wax double of Li Bingbing is set against panels of curved mirrors and a cushioned wall, with violet-coloured lighting, complementing the elegant flair of the talented actress. Guests can stand next to Li Bingbing, and experience the glamorous red carpet lifestyle while snapping pictures with her.
General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, Kelly Mak said “We are committed to continuously bringing unique and fun-filled entertainment to our guests. In launching Li Bingbing’s wax figure in Hong Kong, our guests are now able to get up close to this renowned actress and capture that special moment at our star-studded attraction."
