Hong Kong-born Lee Lai Shan is Hong Kong’s main claim to fame as a windsurfing destination. Born in 1970 she started windsurfing at the age of 12 and won her first Hong Kong championship in 1988, aged 18. Her other major windsurfing achievements include two times World Champion, five times Asian Champion, an Asian Games Gold Medallist (1998) and Olympic Gold Medallist at the Atlanta Games (1996). In 2004, she won first place in the Mistral Asian Championships..
