Kathy Griffin
Comedienne, double Emmy® award winner, Grammy® nominee and Star of Bravo’s “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List,” has graduated from the D-list to the A-list, as she is immortalized in wax courtesy of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas.
On July 2, the world famous attraction at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, celebrating its tenth year anniversary this month, inducted Griffin into the attraction, placing her among A-list stars such as Madonna and Britney Spears and Vegas Legends, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
The feisty and often controversial star known for her celebrity obsessions has aspired to the A-list for years and in her current TV series, on Bravo for its fifth season, Griffin spends time hanging out with such A-listers as Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin.
According to Wikipedia, her favorite celebrity topics are plastic surgery, Scientology, drunkenness, substance abuse, snooty attitudes, eating disorders, and stars whose sexual orientation is disputed.
Among Griffin's regular celebrity repertoire are Paris Hilton, Speidy, Clay Aiken, Barbara Walters, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Ryan Seacrest, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Paula Abdul, Oprah, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Palin and the Jonas Brothers.
“We’re thrilled to add Kathy to our list of A-listers,” says Rosita Chapman, Attractions Manager. “She has millions of fans, and her larger-than-life persona truly fits our Las Vegas attraction.”
Along with winning multiple Emmy® awards, Griffin has enjoyed numerous successes since she landed on the national scene in the early 90’s.
In addition to a regular featured role on the hit TV series, “Suddenly Susan,” alongside Brooke Shields, Griffin has headlined a number of highly rated TV specials, where she has fun skewing her celebrity subjects.
Often controversial, Griffin’s acerbic tongue has found her tussling over the years with the producers of a variety of chat shows, from “The View” to “The Tonight Show.”
Despite some of these well known media showdowns, Griffin’s popularity with the public continues to soar, the main reason why she was voted by the public for this Las Vegas honor.
