Ronaldo scores a place
We’ve kick started our World Cup celebrations today, with the inclusion of one of soccer’s most talented and talked about stars – the one and only Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo made his debut this morning becoming the latest international player to join a truly fantasy football line up, including England’s Steven Gerrard and Fabio Capello’s special team ambassador, David Beckham.
Ronaldo commented: “I have been excited ever since the Madame Tussauds team came to measure me for my wax figure. I cannot wait to see the finished figure in person!”
“With The World Cup just about to begin it’s perfect timing for us to be welcoming one of soccer’s most exciting talents to the attraction.” Commented Liz Edwards, Madame Tussauds spokesperson. She continued: “2010 is definitely a football crazy year here at Madame Tussauds London. We have been overwhelmed with public requests to feature Cristiano Ronaldo and he joins the attraction hot on the heels of fellow international star, Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard, who joined the attraction earlier this year.”
Poised, ready for action, Ronaldo’s £150,000 figure wears his national team kit with orange and white boots. The Real Madrid winger attended a sitting with our sculptors at the Real Madrid training ground back in December where the team took over 300 precise measurements and a catalogue of reference photographs to work with. The figure took four months to create.
As well as other footballers, Ronaldo joins sporting greats such as Lewis Hamilton, Sachin Tendulkar and Jonny Wilkinson in the attraction’s interactive Sports Zone.
