First Lady joins President!
Michelle Obama is the third First Lady to be immortalized in wax by Madame Tussauds New York, joining Jacqueline Kennedy and Hillary Clinton. Visitors will be able to admire the figure up close and even give her a hug.
At the unveiling, the First Lady figure sported a replica of the white, custom-designed gown she wore the evening of the inauguration, while the president was in a black tuxedo. In about two weeks, the Obama wax figures will exchange their formal wear for everyday wear. The First Lady will wear a mint green J Crew skirt, snakeskin LK Bennett shoes and an embellished cream cardigan by Ipekyol, accessorized with her signature double pearl necklaces. Her husband will wear a suit and tie.
Madame Tussauds Washington, D.C., and London sites also feature the first couple. But New York is the only location to show them in the inaugural attire.
During February a Black History Month Savenger Hunt will be free to museum guests. The Times Square attraction includes more than 20 figures of prominent African-Americans.
