Layne Beachley catches a wave with her wax double!

Layne Beachley, the seven-time world surfing champion is immortalised in wax at the new Madame Tussauds Sydney. As Layne came face to face with her doppelganger, she couldn't get over the likeness! "The longer I look at it, the scarier it gets. I'm just waiting for it to move," she said.

Beachley's wax figure was inspired by an image of her performing a bottom turn while competing in Fiji and recreating it took an "arduous" six hour-sitting! Beachley was involved throughout the three-month creation process and is impressed with the results.

The interactive display where Layne is featured allows guests to 'surf' next to her and when you get up close and personal you will notice the fine details, droplets of water on her skin, courtesy of resin varnish while silicone has been applied to her hair and clothes to create a wet look and feel.

Layne is one of over 70 figures that you can get up close and personal with at Madame Tussauds Sydney.
