（December 1 , Shanghai ）Madame Tussauds Shanghai will make a wax figure for famous Taiwan actor Nickyy Wu. A production team from Britain flied to Beijing recently to take his measurement, decide the costume, make-up and hair style of the statue. It is said that the wax statue is inspired by Nickyy Wu’s classical image in the latest smash hit costume drama Startling by Each Step. The wax figure will be completed next summer and displayed in Madame Tussauds Museum located on the 10th floor of New World Emporium, No. 2-68, West Nanjing Road, Shanghai. By then, the expecting fans can take a journey through time to have a close contact with Yinzhen (the fourth son of Emperor Kangxi).
Madame Tussauds Shanghai is concerned with the public choice when selecting any celebrity for making a model. The selected celebrity must not only be successful in certain areas, but also be highly esteemed and admired by local people. Madame Tussauds Shanghai is committed to bringing before the visitors the idols of their hearts. Nickyy Wu is one of Asia’s most prestigious and all-round entertainers. From The Little Tigers who witnessed the youth and dream of a generation, to the intelligent and restrained Fourth Master in Startling by Each Step, and to the producer of his own entertainment company, Nickyy Wu kept scaling new heights in the show business. More than two decades of profound accumulation and ceaseless efforts set up a successful idol in the hearts of post-70s, post-80s and post-90s generations. The wax figure of Nickyy Wu created by Madame Tussauds Shanghai takes inspiration from the Qing Time-travel TV drama Startling by Each Step. Without technical razzle-dazzle or thrilling fighting scenes, Nickyy Wu portrayed Emperor Yongzheng with a cold-seeming face but a warm heart inside and conquered the audience by virtue of his superb acting. Yongzheng’s succeeding to the throne was the turning point of the TV drama. The emperor with his unlimited power became the leading cause of the plot development, giving Nickyy Wu more performance space. Considering the important status of the emperor in Startling by Each Step, Madame Tussauds Shanghai adopts the “emperor” image for Nicky Wu’s wax figure. However, whether the Son of Heaven who defeated political foes with supreme power or the heartbroken darling who leaned upon a balustrade, overwhelmed with grief at the late letter from his lover; or other classical images of the emperor in the TV drama will be selected as the model for the wax figure remains a mystery which will not be revealed until the wax figure is unveiled next year.
Yang Yong, Shanghai marketing director of Merlin Entertainments Group expressed the gladness at Nicky Wu’s being invited to join Madame Tussauds. He said at the measurement-taking ceremony: “ It is a great honor for Madame Tussauds Shanghai to make a wax statue for Nicky Wu. The deep and complicated role of Yongzheng Emperor played by him inspired both awe and affection among the audience. The craze about the TV drama Startling by Each Step will last thanks to the unique charm of the role. We have chosen the classical Emperor image in the TV series as the model for the wax statue, which is also the first wax statue of an ancient emperor in Madame Tussauds Shanghai. It will create a brilliant and unique scenery in Madame Tussauds. I hope that the wax figure of Nicky Wu can fulfill the dream of movie fans and visitors. ”
Madame Tussauds invited a production team from Britain to measure up Nicky Wu to make an absolutely lifelike wax statue of the composed and overbearing Emperor Yongzheng. It took nearly three hours to complete the process of measurement which included creative image report, measuring and shooting of every detail of the human body, collecting more than 200 figures and color matching. The production team will make an exquisite clay figure in 6-8 weeks according to the data acquired from the measurement, and make a plaster mould. Finally the wax is injected into the plaster mould to complete the model. The last step of making the wax figure is the meticulous carving by the sculptor including implanting the hair, detailed coloring and creating the body shape. The entire process will last for 8-12 weeks. All this will be completed in the century-old production workshop of Madame Tussauds in London. Finally the wax figure will be shipped to Shanghai from London. Before it is formally unveiled to the public, Madame Tussauds and Nicky Wu will check every detail of the wax figure to achieve the best display effect.
It is said that the anticipated wax figure of Nicky Wu will be unveiled to the visitors next summer. By then you will travel through time to have a close contact with Yinzhen in the Madame Tussauds located on the 10th floor of New World Emporium, No. 2-68, West Nanjing Road, Shanghai.
