SHANGHAI (February 11, 2007) Madame Tussauds Shanghai teamed up with Pepsi China today to launch the first ever Pepsi Studio - an interactive entertainment experience showcasing Pepsi’s dynamic contribution to pop culture in China.
There were bubbles all round as the famed Pepsi cans were opened en masse in a star studded ceremony to mark the opening of the Pepsi Studio. Celebrity hot shot Louis Koo was the first Pepsi star to check out the Studio and "himself" as Madame Tussauds Shanghai unveiled Louis’ wax likeness for the first time along with pop diva Jolin Tsai.
Koo said,"It really feels incredible to stand next to an exact replica of yourself. When we were brainstorming for the style of my wax figure, I thought hard between the image of Pepsi's "blue-bird man" and "circus man" characters. I finally chose the "blue-bird man", since I really like the unique blue hair color, and doubt I'll ever dye my hair that color ever again!"
The permanent Pepsi Studio is the latest addition to Madame Tussauds Shanghai which opened to great fanfare in May 2006. The collaboration marks a world first for both companies and is part of Madame Tussauds’ commitment to delivering fresh and innovative guest experiences.
Edward Fuller, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Shanghai said, "No where else can you immerse yourself in the world of Pepsi or do the things that Pepsi stars do. This is truly a ground breaking entertainment experience that underscores the Madame Tussauds Shanghai promise of pure entertainment and creating magical moments."
Pepsi China said, "Pepsi has long been famous for its innovation, and this time, the historic cooperation between the world-famous Madame Tussauds marks a breakthrough in cross-industry cooperation in China. At the same time, it serves as another key commitment to Pepsi’s slogan of ‘Dare for More’. In the coming months, we will be enhancing the Pepsi Studios further as we reveal some of our never-before-seen archives featuring the Pepsi celebrities."
The Pepsi Studio, which has opened just in time to welcome the Chinese New Year holiday, offers guests an immersive journey through the celebrity world of Pepsi:
