Madame Tussauds - Shanghai

World Leaders Area Launched

April 28th, 2009, Shanghai – While 2008’s overwhelming US presidential election still remains fresh in many minds, Madame Tussauds Shanghai today responded to such political interests among the public, by opening its World Leaders Area. As the biggest new addition since the wax museum opened in 2006, the World Leaders Area includes newly elected U.S. President Barack Obama, newly appointed U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton who has just come from Madame Tussauds New York, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Russian Premier Vladimir Putin, former South African President Nelson Mandela, and former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. And from today on, everyone visiting Madame Tussauds Shanghai on the 10th floor of New World Department Store can see the figures’ unique political charms, and feel their shining charisma that leads the world’s political development.

During the section’s launching ceremony, Bret Pidgeon, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Shanghai commented with great delight: “This is the first time our wax museum has opened a section of such scale since its opening, and we have a total of six political leaders here. It is not only an honor for Madame Tussauds Shanghai, but also a special opportunity for everyone here to review history and look forward to the future, with these world leaders around. After all, whether in office or not, these legends or leaders have all contributed to the world’s political development, or even turn of the history.”

Among the six debuting world leaders, newly elected U.S. President Barack Obama represents an emerging spiritual force that carries the dreams and hopes of the younger generation; the Clinton family, meeting for the first time in Madame Tussauds Shanghai, has become a legendary tale in the world’s political arena; Russian Premier Vladimir Putin, more than a public idol in his country, has lead Russia’s political progress in almost a decade; South Africa’s first black President Nelson Mandela has become famous world because of his sensational life experiences and unbeatable symbolizing and encouraging icon; former British Prime Minister, just as the World War II he had led, will be always remembered together with that great historical segment.

From today on, everyone is welcomed, together with kids, to Madame Tussauds Shanghai, for a close contact with the world leaders, and a unique perspective of the human history.
