Meeting Expo Ambassadors


(April 29th, 2010, Shanghai) The Shanghai Expo is around the corner. Recently, Madame Tussauds Shanghai was invited to a show called “Embrace the Expo, Smile to New World” held in the New World Building and exhibited three wax figures of the Expo ambassadors Lang Lang, Ming Yao and Jackie Chan. Head of the Huangpu District went there in person and unveiled the wax figures. Distinguished guests and tourists all witnessed the splendid moment of “Gathering of the Expo Ambassadors”.

Expo 2010 is coming soon. Madame Tussauds Shanghai specially unveiled the “Expo ambassadors” in this show to cheer for the ambassadors who are making a nonstop promotion for the Shanghai Expo. When the head of Huangpu District unveiled the red cloth, vivid figures of the three ambassadors appeared in front of the public. Loud applause burst out on the first floor of the New World Building. From skin to hair, the wax figures surprised everyone with vividness. Lang Lang having complete confidence, Ming Yao bearing high morale, Jackie Chan carrying a big smile, the wax figures seemed to be welcoming guests from all over the world, clearly demonstrating the openness and confidence the ambassadors represented.

Mr. Bret Pigeon, the general manager of Madame Tussauds Shanghai, addressed gladly, “Madame Tussauds Shanghai is very supportive to Expo 2010. And we strongly believe that this Expo will have an inestimable and far-reaching impact on cross-culture communication. Although Madame Tussauds comes from UK, we look to celebrities worldwide. Outstanding Chinese like Lang Lang, Ming Yao and Jackie Chan undoubtedly deserve the honor of being among the celebrities in Madame Tussauds. What’s worth mentioning, borrowed from Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and debuting in this show, the Lang Lang wax figure, will have a short-term display. Along with wax figure of Ming Yao and Jackie Chan, “he” will be welcoming guests all over the world during the Expo. Visitors will have the opportunity to have a “zero distance” contact with the three ambassadors. Moreover, during the Expo, with the Expo ticket, visitors can enjoy a special 50% discount at Madame Tussauds Shanghai.
