Superhero - Spiderman
December 29, 2009, Shanghai – Though the weather is freezing cold, people in Shanghai are immersed in joyous mood for the New Year’s Day. Meanwhile, the wax figure of Spiderman is unveiled in Madame Tussauds Shanghai today, adding a fresh new scenic spot to the festival atmosphere. Madame Tussauds Shanghai is located at 10/F, New World Building, No.2-68 Nanjing Xi Road, Shanghai.
Mr. Bret Pidgeon, the general manager of Madame Tussauds Shanghai, was present at the site to unveil the wax figure. He said, “Spiderman is the first superhero landing in Madame Tussauds Shanghai, which people usually connect with legend stories and fantasies. It carries not only the supernatural wisdom and power that human beings are longing for, but the desire for world peace and serenity. Moreover, in Chinese tradition, spider means good luck and auspiciousness. I believe that the presence of Spiderman in the New Year’s Day will bring happiness and hope to all visitors.”
When choosing wax figures, Madame Tussauds Shanghai is always keeping in pulse with the modern time and focusing on what the visitors are really interested in. As a typical heroic image created by Hollywood, the ordinary-but-superb Spiderman is the dreaming idol of the young generation. Today, the appearance of Spiderman in Shanghai as the first supernatural hero will with no doubt add richer and more glittering light to Madame Tussauds Shanghai. The wax figure is set in a uniquely-designed scene where Spiderman in his tights flies over high rises of panoramic Shanghai, which gives visitors a breathtaking experience. At the site, many tourists are vying to take photos with the “Spiderman” and playing a role to be rescued by him in dire threats.
Visitors are able to experience the excitement of “being rescued by superhero” until March 2010. After that, the wax figure will be returned to Madame Tussauds London.
