Yao Chen to Make Her Long-Awaited Debut


(May 25 – Beijing) Madame Tussauds Shanghai will make a wax figure for the famous actress Yao Chen. The Sitting Team of Madame Tussauds from England has recently arrived in Beijing to take her measurements. It is reported that Yao’s wax figure will be completed and displayed at Madame Tussaudes Shanghai, located on the 10th floor of New World Building, No. 2-68, West Nanjing Road, Shanghai, in early 2012. Then the long-awaited fans will be able to witness the charms of Yao Chen, the “Miniblog Queen” who enjoys great popularity in China.

Madame Tussauds strives to give visitors an opportunity to see their idol while choosing the most outstanding person from all walks of life to make the wax figure. Yao Chen is one of the most renowned and influential actress in China. From Guo Furong, an outgoing character in My Own Swordsman to Cui Ping, a brave and quick-witted girl in TV play Lurk, Yao has captured the hearts of movie-going audiences of all ages due to her excellent acting skill and won a good number of awards. Besides, her roles in Love in Cosmo, Color Me Love, and If You Are the One II have earned high marks from professionals and many movie fans. Outside her acting career, Yao has been hailed as the “Miniblog Queen” ranking first in China and third in the world. The public-spirited actress is also the spokesperson of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for China region. Her naturalness, trueness, optimism and easy accessibility have won the favor of Chinese audiences. Yao Chen was very pleased and honored when she received the invitation from Madame Tussauds Shanghai.

This time, Madame Tussauds Shanghai also invited its Sitting Team to come all the way from England to China to take Yao’s measurements and make a lifelike wax figure of Yao Chen. The measurements alone, which involved a series of professional processes, including creative image report, measuring and shooting of all parts of the body, collection of more than 200 data and color pairing, took nearly three hours. Based on the data of the measurements, the Production Team will take 6 to 8 weeks to make a elaborate pottery sculpture and then a plaster mold and later pour wax into the mold. To finally complete the job, it still needs the careful carving and cutting of sculptors, the working procedure includes hair implant, coloring of the details and body shaping. The whole process which is scheduled to last 8 to 12 weeks will be completed at the century-old workshop of Madame Tussauds in London. After completion, the wax figure will be shipped to Shanghai from London. Before the wax figure is formally displayed, Madame Tussauds Shanghai and Yao Chen will jointly check the details of the wax figure to obtain the best display effect.

Today is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Madame Tussauds. It is indeed a double happiness for the famous actress Yao Chen to be invited to Madame Tussauds on such an occasion. It is reported that the long-awaited wax figure of Yao Chen will be displayed in early 2012. Then visitors will be able to have an unprecedented and close contact with the famous actress and “Miniblog Queen” Yao Chen at Madame Tussauds Shanghai, located on the 10th floor of New World Building, No. 2-68, West Nanjing Road, Shanghai.
