Rolf Harris is honoured by BAFTA

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts honours Aussie talent Rolf Harris

Wobble board pioneer, cartoonist, acclaimed painter and wearer of loud shirts Rolf Harris has become the first Australian to be honoured as a Fellow of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs).

The Perth-born entertainment stalwart was presented the BAFTA Fellowship, a lifetime achievement award, for his "outstanding and exceptional contribution to television" by British actor and friend Robert Lindsay at the Television BAFTA awards last night. Previous recipients of the award include greats like Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Vanessa Redgrave and Jennifer Saunders, so Rolf is in superlative company.

The remarkably well-preserved 82-year-old received a standing ovation from a crowd that included Ricky Gervais, Rob Brydon and Maggie Smith.

Congratulations Rolf!
