“It’s my artistic side; before I became a doctor, I wanted to be an interior designer and the first magazine I subscribed to was fashion magazine (Glamour), the second one was National Geographic. You see, these are two opposite things in my life.”

Dr. Porntip is Thailand’s most senior forensic pathologist, author and human rights activist, nicknamed ‘Dr. Death’. Best known for identifying victims of the 2004 tsunami, she has also solved several high profile criminal cases that have received media and public attention

Her punk-rock hairstyle, fashionable boots, eccentric clothing and makeup make Dr. Porntip easily recognisable and a favourite among the media. In 2009 artists from Madame Tussauds met with her to get detailed references and accept a costume donation for her wax figure

Awarded the Chulchomklao decoration and honoured with the title "Khunying" (the Thai equivalent to Dame) in 2003, Dr. Porntip is also Director-General of the Central Institute of Forensic Science, Ministry of Justice (CIFS), which introduced DNA evidence to Thailand

Born Porntip Rojanasunan on 21st December 1954 Bangkok, Thailand
