Bear Grylls arrives in Blackpool
Blackpool scouts are set to welcome adventurer and explorer Bear Grylls to Blackpool on Thursday 20 June when his new wax figure, created by Madame Tussauds Blackpool, is unveiled.
More than 12 months in the planning and making, the new interactive set includes a specially created rock formation and, of course, the highly detailed wax figure dressed in clothing donated by Bear himself.
Bear’s figure has been sculpted by the Madame Tussauds expert team, following a series of sittings and hundreds of precise measurements being taken, ensuring his wax double is as lifelike and accurate as possible.
Excited to encounter his new figure for the first time, Bear said: “I’m thrilled that the scouts from Blackpool will unveil my figure to the public, I love the figure and hope they will too.
“The amount of work and detail which goes into creating the figure is amazing and I can’t believe how great I look!”
Costing £150,000 to create, the figure is in distinguished company in the attraction’s Documentary Drama Zone, alongside other TV favourites, such as David Attenborough and Ant and Dec.
The General Manager of Madame Tussauds Blackpool, Matthew Titherington, said: “Bear is such a fantastic ambassador for Britain and we are proud to welcome him to Blackpool. The figure is absolutely brilliant and we are really excited to unveil him to both the scouts and the great British public.”
In honour of Bear Grylls’ connection with the Scouts Association, Madame Tussauds in Blackpool is offering free entry to any member of the scouts wearing their neckerchief and woggle when accompanied by a paying adult.
