Mo Mania Sweeps the Country
Fans show their support for Mo Farah despite sadly pulling out of the Commonwealth Games
As the Commonwealth Games kick-off in Glasgow, athletics fans in Liverpool, Manchester & Blackpool have been out in force to show their support and send well-wishes to Mo Farah after he was forced to pull out of this Sunday’s race.
Stopping off In Liverpool before heading on to Manchester and Blackpool, the Madame Tussauds Blackpool wax figure gave passers by quite the surprise as shoppers took a double-take of the running great.
The athlete, famed for his classic Mobot pose, has been magically captured in wax by the expert sculptors at Madame Tussauds.
Adults and children alike were delighted to come face-to-face with the celebrated athlete at the North West locations. Many took to the podium in support of Mo, showing he’s still their Number One.
Mo blew the nation away at the London 2012 Olympics with a brace of two gold medals in the 5,000m and 10,000m races and placed himself firmly in the pantheon of Olympic heroes.
Mo Farah’s wax figure wears his signature Nike running kit and recreates his iconic Mobot pose – the figure currently resides at Madame Tussauds Blackpool alongside other sporting greats such as Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard.
Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool said: “The reaction Mo received in Liverpool, Manchester and Blackpool was incredible. Mo’s figure is permanently on display at the attraction so it’s ideal for Farah fans to come down and meet him face-to-face and they still have the opportunity to see him this summer despite not competing.”
