- One of the most successful directors and producers working in Hollywood, Spielberg’s first blockbuster hit was “Jaws” in 1975.

- He is also the man behind other classic films as E.T. (1982), the four Indiana Jones films (1981, 1984, 1989, 2008), Jurassic Park (1993), Saving Private Ryan (1998), for which he won a Best Director Academy Award ®, War of the Worlds (2005), and Schindler’s List (1993) for which he won Academy ® Awards for Best Picture and Director, among many others.

- Universal Studios signed Spielberg in 1968. He had to drop out of college at California State University’s Long Beach campus to do so, but eventually earned his degree 30 years later by completing independent projects in 2002.

- He began making his own movies when he was a teenager. His first professional jobs as a director were in television until he made his first theatrical feature The Sugarland Express in 1974.

- He was born December 18, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio, later moving to New Jersey, Arizona, and California.
