Known as the king of Rock ’n’ Roll or simply “the king”, Elvis launched the era of the glamorous rock superstar. His unique voice and outrageous performance style catapulted him to fame and made a lasting impact on the music world. His hits included Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog and Love Me Tender. A series of hugely popular films followed, including Loving You (1957) and GI Blues (1960). He slipped into relative obscurity in the late 1960s but made a comeback as a Las Vegas performer in the 1970s. He died suddenly in 1977.
