World Champion Jessica Ennis wins a place here at Madame Tussauds London

As the count down to next year’s Olympic Games hots up we paid tribute to team GB as one of its brightest hopes, World Champion Heptathlete, Jessica Ennis unveiled her new wax figure.

Portrayed in an iconic post-race celebration pose with her arms raised triumphantly as she proudly holds aloft a Union Jack flag, the real Jessica was blown away by her wax double.

"I cannot believe just how realistic it is," commented the 25 year old World Champion. "They've got me down to a tee. Every little detail is so accurate from the eyes, right down to my abs - it is quite strange to be looking at your exact double!"

For the time being Jessica’s figure will feature in the interactive Sports Zone, with a cast of greats from past and present - from Lewis Hamilton to David Beckham, Mohammed Ali to Jesse Owens. But plans are underway for her to be joined next year by some of her GB team-mates in a special dedicated area.

Jessica gave sculptors a sitting in March where hundreds of precise measurements were taken. The figure, which wears kit donated by Jessica, took four months to complete at a cost of £150,000.
