Sherlock takes up residency at Madame Tussauds

Sherlock returns to Baker Street

The world’s most famous detective will take up residence in Baker Street once more this Christmas as we announce plans for a new figure of Robert Downey Jr as the legendary sleuth. We have partnered with Warner Bros to portray the actor in his starring role in Guy Richie’s eagerly anticipated new Sherlock Holmes movie, released in the UK on Boxing Day.

Downey’s figure will recreate the strikingly modern image of Holmes depicted on the film’s promotional poster with penetrating stare, tousled hair and dapper black and grey suit, waistcoat and cravat.

“We’re very excited to be welcoming Sherlock Holmes back to Baker Street and to be including Robert Downey Jr in the attraction for the first time,” commented Liz Edwards, our PR Manager. “Holmes and Madame Tussauds are both London legends with strong ties to Baker Street, but Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock has a definite 21st Century twist and the figure will have a very contemporary look and feel also”.

Work is already underway on the new figure with the creative team using information and over 300 precise measurements gathered at a sitting with Downey Jr in New York. The figure will cost £150,000 to create and is scheduled to be revealed to coincide with the film release in December.
