Robert Pattinson's Wax Figure

(December 1, 2011 – Shanghai) Today is the 250th birthday of Madame Tussauds. The 10th floor of New World Emporium, No. 2-68, West Nanjing Road, where Madame Tussauds Shanghai is located, is teeming with jolliness and birthday chant. Generation after generation of big-screen heroes have left their classic wax figures in Madame Tussauds, including Sean Connery, the synonym of James Bond 007, and Brad Pitt, Hollywood’s young charming actor. Now, the wax statue of Robert Pattinson, another newly-emerging British star, is debuting in Madame Tussauds Shanghai. With the release of Twilight 4 Breaking Dawn all over the world, a heat wave of Robert Pattinson is expected to hit the city.

In 2008, Robert Pattinson came to worldwide fame in the wake of his skilful and exquisite performance as a vampire in the Twilight Saga: Twilight. Born in 1986 in London, he became involved in amateur theatre when he was 15. But his first role was made in Ring of Nibelungs. Later he had supporting roles in Vanity Fair and Harry Porter. Being named one of the “Sexiest Men in the World” by various media publications for many times, Pattinson was madly praised and extolled by a great number of movie fans, particularly young girls. To satiate their interest, the museum has made a wax figure of Robert Pattinson, portraying his real life.

“After Twilight was released around the world, many tourists had an urgent demand for adding a wax figure of Robert Pattinson, the leading actor of the movie.” said Mr. Yang Yong, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Shanghai, “according to the staff member of Madame Tussauds London, Pattinson’s wax figure has been kissed by numerous fans within a short period of only a few months, and became the most kissed figure in 2010. We hope to see that record be verified and broken in Shanghai.”

Two lucky fans are chosen to unveil Pattinson’ wax figure in the launch ceremony. They dressed in wedding outfits, and kissed Pattinson’s statue. Seeing with their own eyes, two lucky fans went crazy over the debut of Pattinson’s wax model in the museum. “Robert Pattinson is my favourite. No words can truly describe my feelings now.” said Ms. Gong Chenchen.

It is said the new wax figure will be exhibited in the “House of Love” of Madame Tussauds Shanghai, where all visitors and fans can be able to cozy up with Pattinson’s figure for a photo or even a kiss. It is expected that the new figure will be popularized by the movie Twilight 4 (Part I), which is now going on screen all over the world.
