(February 4, 2013 – Shanghai) On February 4, the first day of spring on the Chinese calendar, Madame Tussauds Shanghai, located on the 10th floor of New World Department, No. 2-68, West Nanjing Road, Shanghai, is honoured to usher in a heavyweight guest –China’s flying fish Mr. Sun Yang, the first Chinese man ever to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming, the champion of two individual titles at the 2012 London Olympics and the world record holder of men’s 1500m freestyle. One of China’s most successful and accomplished young male athletes, Sun Yang rose to his fame as early as in 2006 at a provincial sports meeting where he showed his amazing talent in swimming. His efforts finally paid off at the 2011 World Championships when he broke the world record of 1500m freestyle which had been kept for ten-year long.
