Madame Tussauds Sydney wins gold in New Tourism Development category
Merlin Entertainments Group attractions Madame Tussauds Sydney and the Sydney Tower Eye have won gold and silver respectively at the highly contested 2012 NSW Tourism Awards.
Madame Tussauds Sydney took out the gold prize in the New Tourism Development category, while Sydney Tower Eye was awarded silver in the Major Tourist Attraction category. It is the first time that both attractions have entered the NSW Tourism Awards in any category.
Hywel Mathias, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Sydney was thrilled at the news, saying: “What a fantastic achievement for Madame Tussauds as a new and exciting attraction on the Sydney landscape”.
Sydney was selected as the location of the thirteenth Madame Tussauds in the world because of the global nature of the city, the volume of tourists and the Darling Harbour location. The attracttion has over 70 wax figures and over 30 interactive experiences in 9 fun-filled themed zones.
