Mark Webber is an Australian Formula One racing driver whose first F1 victory came with Red Bull Racing in the 2009 German Grand Prix. Mark dominated the race to win ahead of his teammate
German Sebastian Vettel.
He was born Mark Alan Webber on 27th August 1976 in Queanbeyan, NSW, Australia.
Mark’s father Alan was a motorcycle dealer, and as a young boy Mark raced bikes, before taking up karting at the age of 14, relatively late compared to most F1 drivers.
After winning a state karting title and progressing into the Australian Formula Ford championship, Mark moved to the England to further his motorsports career.
In 2002 he made his F1 debut for the Minardi team at his home race, the Australian Grand Prix. After battling with car problems he finished fifth, becoming only the fourth Australian F1 driver to score world championship points.
Mark has established his own charity adventure race, the Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge, in which fitness fanatics can trek, cycle and kayak across Tasmania. In the 2008 event Mark broke his leg after a bicycle accident.
