With an impressive record Renate Götschl is one of the most successful female skier
of all times. She won a silver and bronze medal at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt
Lake City and has won nine medals at the World Championships over the years, as
well as grand total of 46 World Cup wins.
One of Götschl’s favourite ski runs is in the resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, where
she became the first ever alpine skier to win 10 races at a single World Cup venue.
After 17 years on the professional skiing circuit, Austria’s ‘Speed Queen’ retired from
professional skiing in August 2009 to dedicate more time to her home life. She is a
mother of two girls.
