Cubist art movement and was educated at Spain’s foremost art school, the Royal
Academy of San Fernando in Madrid before moving to Paris at the age of 16
• Guernica (1937), a portrayal of the German bombing of Guernica during the Spanish
Civil War, is among his most famous works
• Picasso was actually baptized Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan
Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Crispiniano de la Santísima Trinidad, in honour
of Catholic saints. In addition, the family names of his father and mother Ruiz and
Picasso were added
