What is Lady Gaga's real name?

  • Lady Gaga was born as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in New York City in 1986. Already as a child she learned how to play piano and as a teenager she wrote her first songs. During High School Lady Gaga was gathering some stage experience as she played the lead in several musicals, including Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls” and Philia in “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum”. When Lady Gaga moved from home at the age of 18 to attend herself completely to her career, she first had to battle her way as a Go-Go-Girl because she did not receive any financial support by her parents.
  • The artist’s name “Lady Gaga” emerged by a fluke when the music producer Rob Fusari wrote about Freddy Mercury’s song “Radio Gaga” in a text message to the singer and the auto correction changed “Radio” to “Lady”. Her answer to the text message was: “That’s it!” So as of now she rocked the stages of the world as Lady Gaga. In 2008, her debut album “The Fame” was released and became a worldwide success with about 15 million records sold. Lady Gaga got famous for her extravagant and shrill outfit which she does not only present on stage, but also on the red carpet. With this extraordinary and provocative style of clothing she wants to make a political statement with the message that one should stand by ones convictions and attitudes. To conceal her body size of 1,55m Lady Gaga often wears high heels with 16cm heels. Influences and inspiration in both musical and fashionable counts are taken from Madonna, David Bowie, Gwen Stefani, Grace Jones or Queen.
  • So far Lady Gaga received six Grammys, 13 MTV Music Awards and was listed among the ten most influential people around the world in 2010. Lady Gaga uses her popularity also to take a stand for injustices in the world. Especially she avows for the rights of homosexuals. In 2012, Lady Gaga and her mother founded the “Born This Way Foundation”, which aims to help victims of bullying in schools. Additionally she represents together with the MAC Aids Fund the needs and interests of HIV-positive women. The list of Lady Gaga’s most famous singles includes “Poker Face”, “Paparazzi”, “Bad Romance”, “Alejandro”, “The Edge of Glory” or “Perfect Illusion”. Frequently Lady Gaga is also seen in several cinema movies such as in the movie “Men in Black” where she acted as an alien in 2012. Besides, in 2012, the Duke University named a species of ferns for Lady Gaga because they display the sequence G-A-G-A in their DNA. So there are now ferns called “Gaga germanotta” and “Gaga monstraparva”. Wherever Lady Gaga goes, she is carrying a violet teacup with her. Since she is always drinking tea together with her mother, this teacup gives her a feeling of “being at home”.
