Olly Murs holding a mic wax figure at Madame Tussuads Blackpool

Ahead of his ‘Never Been Better’ tour, Madame Tussauds Blackpool has launched a brand new wax figure of Olly Murs, styled in an individual outfit just for Madame Tussauds Blackpool. The British chart-topper was unveiled at Madame Tussauds Blackpool on 30 March, where his wax figure will be in the company of an array of stars from the world of music, comedy, sport and entertainment.

Captured during a number of sittings, Olly’s wax figure appears with a microphone in hand, dressed in a crisp white shirt and skinny denim jeans from his own wardrobe. His wax figure also sports facial hair, a quiff and his trademark cheeky grin.

The creation of Olly’s wax figure was an in-depth process, with a dedicated team of sculptors taking hundreds of precise measurements and photographs to ensure as accurate a likeness as possible. The figures are created by separate teams of sculptors, moulders, colourists and hairstylists and it takes 20 people four months to complete the figures with each one costing £150,000.

Olly said, “There is no greater honour than having a wax figure created, it means I’ll be immortalised for years to come amongst the other famous faces at Madame Tussauds Blackpool. I hear there was great demand for a figure of me to be made, so I can’t wait to be the one of the first to see it, the whole thing was a great experience from start to finish.”

The Essex born star has established himself as one of the most popular and successful artists in the British music industry. With four number one hits under his belt, Olly has become a regular fixture in the UK charts. His most recent success was his recently recorded fourth studio album ‘Never Been Better’, which took top spot upon its release. It was only a matter of time before an Olly figure took up residence at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

General Manager of Madame Tussauds Blackpool, Matthew Titherington, said: “It is fantastic to have Olly’s figure joining the music area, amongst stars like Lady Gaga, Leona Lewis and Peter Andre. There has been a huge demand from our visitors for a figure of Olly, so it was only a matter of time. Olly is one of the most loved artists in British music, so we are giving the public what they want.”
