Monday – Clay modelling

Participants sculpt their own portraits using clay and mixed craft materials while learning about facial features, proportions, and hair textures. Introduction to the sculpting stage of figure creation.

Tuesday – Color of Me

Children explore primary colors and experiment with mixing paints to create their own skin tones. Understanding the painting and coloring process used to achieve realistic skin tones.

Wednesday – Hand Cast Painting

Participants mix skin tones and apply them while painting stone hand casts.

Learning about the detailing and finishing process used in figure production.

Thursday – Armatures & Poses

Participants construct simple armatures using cardboard, wires, and pipe cleaners while learning about body proportions, balance, poses, and center of gravity. Introduction to the armature and molding stage of figure creation.

Friday – Creative Figure Challenge

Participants create their own mini figure using a combination of techniques learned throughout the week.

Bringing together sculpting, structure, and colour in a final creative project.

Participants will have a tour of the museum and get to cast their own hand in wax
