Jackson Wang Unveiled His World's First Lifelike Wax Figure

For this occasion, an unveiling ceremony was held by Madame Tussauds Hong Kong today. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Jackson said having the world’s first wax figure at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong holds special significance to him. He is excited to meet “himself” as his childhood dream has come true on his 25th birthday. He also said he will continue to work hard in order to have his figure displayed at all Madame Tussauds around the world so his fans can take selfies with “him” whenever and wherever they want.

To accompany the launch of his wax figure, Madame Tussauds has invested over HK$1 million to create two new interactive experiences with Jackson: AR and Hologram, so that guests can take unforgettable pictures with Jackson. AR technology allows fans to pose with Jackson in four pictures and download the photos for free. For the Hologram experience, Jackson collaborated with Madame Tussauds Hong Kong to create a custom performance in which fans can dance to the song “Papillon” with Jackson, immersing themselves in the one-of-a-kind concert with their beloved idol. 

To kick start the unveiling ceremony, Ms. Jenny You, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong presented a personalised handprint to Jackson, welcoming him to the Madame Tussauds family. Dressed in the same black attire with his figure, Jackson premiered his latest collaboration with the renowned Italian fashion brand Fendi in an extremely cool, modern street style. He then unveiled his figure together with Jenny, marking the debut of his perfect portrayal with the iconic “W” gesture of Team Wang.

In order to create a realistic simulation, the sitting process lasted 7-8 hours in which Jackson only rest on to drink the sugarcane juice prepared by his father. “When I was 9, I visited Madame Tussauds with my family and I wished I could have my own wax figure in future too. Now my dream has come true. I hope I can present myself in perfect condition so it’s totally worth the starvation for a short while.” he said. “We are excited the world’s first wax figure of Jackson is unveiled here in Hong Kong today. We appreciate his efforts along his music journey. This young gentleman has a strong passion for music and works hard to achieve his dreams.” said Ms. Jenny You.

The event attracted over hundreds of fans from Asia. To show his appreciation, Jackson entertained them with game where winners were invited to take photos with him. The friendly and fan-loving talent also took group selfies with fans. He said, “it is my pleasure to be invited by Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. I am particularly impressed that many fans made their way to Hong Kong to witness this significant moment with me. I hope everyone who loves Jackson Wang can go to take photos or interact with ‘me’ whenever they want. And I will come back more often to meet you all too.”

Last year, Jackson was appointed as Hong Kong's first “Tourism Envoy” by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). Ms Becky Ip, Deputy Executive Director of HKTB, also joined the event to show her support. “We are happy to join the unveiling ceremony of our Envoy, Jackson’s world’s first wax figure. We began our collaboration with Jackson last year to actively promote diverse travelling experiences in Hong Kong. Madame Tussauds Hong Kong attracts a huge number of visitors every year. By having Jackson’s wax figure joined the Madame Tussauds family, we hope we can attract more tourists to visit Hong Kong.” said Ms. Yip
