Renowned as an economist, academic, and politician, Tansu Çiller is the 22nd Prime Minister of Turkey, who served between 1993 and 1996. She is the first and only female Prime Minister in the history of the Republic of Turkey.

A graduate of Robert College and Boğaziçi University’s Department of Economics, Tansu Çiller completed her master’s degree at the University of New Hampshire, she received her doctoral degree from the University of Connecticut, and she continued her post-doctoral studies at Yale University. She also served as an assistant to Professor Simon Kuznets, a Nobel Laureate in Economics.
