Workshops

250 Years of Extraordinary History

Learn about Madame Tussauds legacy and our own operational merits in our brand new primary and secondary school workshops!

All workshops are £2 in addition to schools admission. If required, teachers are welcome to enquire into whether the room is available as a lunch space post/pre workshop. We have two times available for workshops to be booked during the day, these are 11:00 and 14:30. Designed for a class of up to 32 students, a workshop session is 45minutes.

KS1 & KS2 The History of Marie Tussaud

Delve into the fascinating story of Marie Tussaud: an artist, business entrepreneur and an innovator. Discover a brand new workshop where your class will learn about the evolution of this world famous attraction. Pupils will develop awareness of the past as they unravel the 250 years of extraordinary history that led to the Madame Tussauds we see standing on in Baker Street today.

Key activities will include

National Curriculum Links

  • A picture based activity to enhance skills of how to identify people from the past and present
  • Working together to build life-size timeline of Marie Tussauds’ life to develop an understanding of where the people and events they study fit within a chronological framework
  • Creating their very own fact file of Marie Tussaud to demonstrate how individuals in the past can contribute to national and international achievements
  • KS1/KS2 History
  • Develop an awareness of the past

  • Understand events beyond living memory that are significant nationally or globally
  • Develop an understanding of the lives of significant individuals in the past who have contributed to national and international achievements

KS3 & KS4 The History of Madame Tussauds

Delve into the fascinating story of Marie Tussaud: an artist, business entrepreneur and an innovator. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the historic events that impacted and influenced Marie Tussaud's impressive career. Students will identify the significant events and environmental factors that have led to Madame Tussauds as we know today.

Key activities will include

National Curriculum Links

  • A timeline based activity to place significant historical events, people and places in their own locality
  • In teams Identify why someone may become a key part of history.
  • Using this information the teams will decide on a new figure for Madame Tussauds, consider the set and present back with their findings.

     

  • KS3/KS4 History
  • Identify significant events, make connections, draw contrasts, and analyse trends within periods and over long arcs of time.
  • Understand ideas, political power, industry and empire: Britain, 1745-1901, challenges for Britain, Europe and the wider world 1901 to the present day.
  • KS3/KS4 English
  • Summarising and organising material, and supporting ideas and arguments with any necessary factual detail.
  • Identify significant events, make connections, draw contrasts, and analyse trends within periods and over long arcs of time.

KS4 & KS5 Customer Service at Madame Tussauds London

Madame Tussauds London prides itself on the customer service delivered to its visitors. This workshop gives students the opportunity to gain insight into the key areas which enhance a guest's experience and interaction with the attraction.

Key activities will include..

National Curriculum Links…

  • Exploring how Madame Tussauds records a guests experience against key performance indicators and how they are cascaded across the team
  • Recognising the impact of customer service and how it impacts a business
  • Resolving an onsite “operational headache”
  • Undertake a guest complaint by structuring a response letter using appropriate language and offering a resolution
  • Business operations
  • Development of problem solving and decision making skills relevant to business

Both workshops and lunch space are only available on weekdays during term time and must be booked at least 10 working days in advance of your visit date. They must also be booked before your entry into Madame Tussauds.
