Did you know these fun facts about the Possum?

  • Jones influenced generations of country singers, but he had numerous fans in other genres as well. Among them: rocker Elvis Costello, who did a live duet with him on “Stranger in the House” in 1981
  • George was given the nickname "The Possum" because of the shape of his nose and face. It was used as the hook for one of his hits "Just Playing Possum".
  • He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992 and was a past member of The Grand Ole Opry
