Things To Do In Times Square

Located at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue, Times Square has many nicknames including The Great White Way and The Crossroads of the World.  Historically known as Longacre Square – Times Square was named after the Times Tower in 1904 and is home to the most famous New Year’s Eve party in the world! Often overlooked even by native New Yorkers, the Times Square train station has 53-foot mural by famed Art Deco, comic-book futuristic pop artist Roy Lichtenstein.   His titled “Times Square Mural” is a permanent art installation found at the Times Square – 42nd Street New York City Subway station.  It is made of porcelain enamel on steel and is mounted on rafters in the main mezzanine entrance.  In addition to displaying art, Times Square is also one of the most photographed places in the world. 

Times Square was the location of one of the world’s most iconic photos taken at the end of WWII – the photo of the soldier kissing a nurse.  Kissing in Times Square also tops the list of things to do in Times Square!  To this day, the identities of the soldier and nurse of America’s most famous kiss remain a mystery.

Times Square is the worlds most visited NYC attraction with an estimated 360,000 pedestrians a day and over 131 million annual visitors.
