Renate Götschl

Go skiing with the Austrian ski star Renate Götschl.

Facts about the "Speed Queen" and her waxfigure:

  • Renate Götschl learned skiing at the age of three years and won pretty soon her first children's races. With an impressive record Renate Götschl is third most successful female skier of all time. She won a silver and bronze medal at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt lake City and has won nine medals at the World Championships over the years, as well as grand total of 46 World Cup wins.
  • One of Götschl’s favourite ski runs is in the resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, where she became the first ever alpine skier to win 10 races at a single World Cup venue. After 17 years on the professional skiing circuit, Austria’s ‘Speed Queen’ retired from professional skiing in August 2009 to dedicate more time to her home life. She became a mother to a baby girl in Spring 2010
  •  In August 2010 the speed queen met for the first time the sculptors of Madame Tussauds in Styria. As Renate Götschl’s wax figure is portrayed in the can be seen in a downhill - pose, it is one of the most complex figures Madame Tussauds has ever made. Therefore the cooperation with Renate Götschl herself was very important. The wax figure of Renate Götschl can be only seen at Madame Tussauds Vienna and was launched during the World Ski Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 15th February 2011, almost 2 months before the opening of the wax figure museum in Vienna.
