Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scout Movement in the United States.
- In 1911, she met the founder of the scouting movement, Lord Baden Powell, and organized troops in Scotland and London before bringing the Girl Guides Movement stateside.
- Low registered the first 18 Girl Guides in Savannah, Georgia.
- At Girl Guiding meetings, Low encouraged girls from every walk of life to come outdoors and develop various skills - from First Aid and horticulture to the arts and sports.
