Glee Star Jane Lynch Gets Waxed
When L.A.'s biggest new attraction, Madame Tussauds Hollywood, was deciding its principal 2010 honoree, all eyes and measuring tapes were upon Jane Lynch, star of the hot FOX network television series, Glee, which has recently nominated for 19 Emmy® Awards.
Jane Lynch, known to millions as “Sue Sylvester” on the runaway hit television show, was officially inducted into the world famous Madame Tussauds Hollywood collection, becoming the first FOX network actress to be so honored.
Earlier in the year, Lynch spent time in Los Angeles sitting for the Madame Tussauds sculptors and figure specialists, who took hundreds of measurements and photos to prepare her wax figure.
Entertainment Weekly recently called Lynch, “the prom queen of this year’s TV season,” and Lynch’s wax figure, currently being sculpted at a cost of $300,000 at the Madame Tussauds studios in London, will feature her iconic Sue Sylvester character, replete with jogging suit and trademark bull horn.
As was recently done for Quentin Tarantino, Jackie Chan, the late Michael Jackson and George Lopez, Lynch’s figure unveiling will be a public event, presented in the forecourt of the popular Hollywood attraction and landmark, next to Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
Also famous for her role as the dog handler in the feature film, “Best In Show,” the “Glee” actress, like the stars honored before her, will personally unveil her life-like wax figure, which will be featured alongside such other legendary stars as Judy Garland, Bette Davis and Meryl Streep.
Lynch recently told London’s Guardian newspaper, "Making people laugh is a really fabulous thing because it means you're getting deep inside somebody, into their psyche, and their ability to look at themselves."
Glee, television’s most award-winning new series, is also the highest-rated new scripted series of the season among adults 18-49.The complete first season of “Glee” will be released for the first time on DVD and Blu-ray Sept. 14 via Fox Home Entertainment.
