Comedian John Bishop has become the latest celebrity to be immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

The Liverpudlian funnyman was taken aback as he was introduced to his wax double for the first time today (29 July).

The stand-up comedian has been captured smiling in his trademark casual on-stage pose and will take up permanent residence at the seaside attraction. He’ll be in the company of other British comedy stars such as The Two Ronnies, Russell Brand, Alan Carr and Graham Norton.

To capture the uncanny likeness of John, thousands of measurements were taken, from the width of his waist to the length of his ears, to ensure they get the perfect likeliness. It took expert sculptors several months to painstakingly mould, sculpt and perfect John’s wax figure. The figure is dressed in a suit donated by John, one that he wore during his UK tour last year.

John has firmly established himself as the king of comedy following the hugely successful first series of The John Bishop Show on BBC One. He’s had numerous sell-out UK tours, best-selling DVD’s and a chart-topping autobiography ‘How Did This All Happen?’, which published in 2013.

His figure is set to entertain visitors at his new home at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

John commented: “It’s brilliant to feature alongside some of the greats of British comedy like Tommy Cooper and the Two Ronnies. I’m looking forward to bringing the kids along and seeing how they feel about having two dads.”

Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool commented: “It’s been a lot of fun welcoming John to the attraction today, we’re all big fans of his comedy work. He’s certainly going to be a massive hit with our visitors, there’s been a demand for his wax figure for some time.”
