Who are we?

The financial department in Amsterdam currently exist out of 5 people and besides the financial administration they also provide the necessary management information to support the entire organization.

 

Function description

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an enthusiastic Management Accountant. As a Management accountant you are responsible for the monthly reporting to Merlin Entertainments. You are the first point of contact for all financial matters for the attractions and provide relevant and detailed information to the senior management team, to enable them to run the attractions effectively within budgets. In addition, you take care of the VAT return, provide support with the annual accounts and various ad hoc requests.

 

Although the finance office is located in Amsterdam, travel to the sites is necessary, in order to have a close relationship with the attractions. As Merlin is always moving and looking for opportunities, tasks can be changed or redistributed. Above all, we are a team who do the work together!

Per 2024 we moved to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, making our financial administration fully digital and remote. After a thorough induction period, partial working from home is possible. 

In addition to a high degree of independence, factual work and collaboration are essential. As are good communication and a proactive attitude in a dynamic environment.

 

Your main tasks include:

  • Making the monthly P&L and taking accruals and provisions,
  • Making reconciliations of balance sheet accounts,
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns,
  • Supporting the Finance Manager in preparing the annual accounts and budgets,
  • Responsible for making and updating the weekly cash flow forecast,
  • Making analyses on turnover and costs,
  • Ensure that sales data is correctly processed in the financial administration,
  • Make inventory reconciliations and calculate cost of sales,
  • Intercompany reconciliation with other Merlin entities,
  • Be active in seeking improvements and solutions,
  • Establishing a good working relationship with other departments as first point of contact,
  • Various ad hoc activities.

 

Qualifications & Experience

In order to be able to fulfill this position, we are looking for an enthusiastic person with the following qualities:

  • HBO work and mindset,
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a corporate environment,
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a must (big plus),
  • Experience with Oracle Hyperion FDM/HFM is a plus,
  • Accurate and numerical insight,
  • Managing own workload to ensure deadlines are met,
  • Good communication, both in Dutch and English, in word and writing,
  • Excel has no secrets for, handling and analyzing large data files is no problem for you,
  • Preferably living in the region between Amsterdam and Den Haag,
  • Someone who makes work fun.
  • Availability 32-40 hours per week
