Femke Broeders-Bol is a Dutch athlete who specializes in the 400-meter hurdles and the 400-meter flat race. She grew up in Amersfoort and, from a young age, developed into one of the greatest talents in international athletics. With her powerful running style and consistent performances, she quickly became one of the most recognizable faces in Dutch athletics.

  • Femke gained international recognition in 2021 when she reached the final of the 400-meter hurdles at the Tokyo Olympic Games, making history as the first Dutch woman to compete in an Olympic final in that event.

  • In 2025, she announced that she was engaged to Belgian pole vaulter Ben Broeders. The two elite athletes met around a Diamond League event in Stockholm and support each other in their international athletics careers. In February 2026, they officially got married.

  • Femke was born on February 23, 2000, in Amersfoort. She studied nursing at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.

The making of her wax figure

Sculptors, color specialists, and costume designers worked for approximately nine months on the lifelike figure of the Dutch athlete. She is wearing her signature orange competition outfit from sponsor New Balance, complete with race number and shoes. The creation process required the utmost precision. During an extensive posing session, Femke was captured in every detail, with the aim of portraying not only her appearance, but also her energy and presence as an elite athlete.
