Pia Wurtzbach: A Beauty Queen with a Heart
★ Born in Stuttgart, Germany, to a German father and a Filipino mother, she moved to the Philippines with her family when she was 11 years old. She began her modeling career at the age of 15 and won several beauty pageants in the Philippines. In 2015, she was crowned Miss Universe, becoming the third Filipina to win the title following Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973.
★ As Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach used her platform to raise awareness on important social issues, such as HIV/AIDS prevention as the UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for Asia and the Pacific
★ Pia is the first Filipino and first beauty queen to have a wax figure in Madame Tussauds.
★ Her wax figure is dressed in a replica of her iconic Swarovski-embellished gown by Michael Cinco, which she wore to the 2016 Miss Universe coronation night where she passed on the crown.
